Just because you are broke it doesn't mean that you can't have a fabulous date. In fact, sometimes inexpensive dates are even more meaningful than spending a lot of money since they tend to be more romantic and leave the two of you with more time to talk to each other. If you are on a budget and still want to have a great time, here are some inexpensive date ideas:
Plan A Picnic
Hit the grocery store and pick up some fixings for a fabulous picnic. Stop by the deli counter and get some lunch meat and maybe a container of cold salad like potato or macaroni, and hit the bread department for some tasty looking buns or rolls. Get a cheap bottle of wine or some soda or juice. Take it all home and pack it up in a cooler. Grab a blanket, a couple of plates, some silverware and glasses for your beverages then head to a local park or even someplace more rustic like a campground. Spread out the blanket, eat your food and enjoy each other's company. Total cost depending on the food you buy should be under $20.00.
Take a Hike
Put on sturdy shoes and pack some water bottles, then head out into nature and take a hike. Check with your local Forest Service office or another land management agency in your area for maps of trails in your area. Choose an easy trail so you can hang out together, walking slowly and just enjoying the beauty of nature and each other's company. Your only cost should be gas money to get to the trailhead.
Play Sports
If you and your date are athletic try playing a sport together. Sure, some sports like golf cost money. But there are plenty of free sports that you can do, too. Go shoot hoops, play tennis, go ice skating, throw a frisbee together, go running, or play catch. You'll have fun together and it won't cost you a dime.
Cook Dinner
Plan a romantic dinner in and prepare the food yourself. You can make a really nice meal for not a lot of money. Pick up candles at your local dollar store to make it even more romantic without breaking the bank. Find some good music to play while you eat. You'll have a wonderful chance to talk with your date and get to know them better.
